Ruby cut to clear glass presentation chalice with incredibly fine etched and engraved hunting scene which depicts stag and deer with dogs amid a forest. Unsigned. Solid ruby glass panel cut stem with a scalloped edged cut foot. Unsigned but believed to be by Louis Vaupel. A near example is in possession of the Toledo Museum in Ohio. Vaupel worked for Edward Drummand Libbey's New England Glass company in the 1800's. Vaupel, from Germany, came from a family of glass cutters and engravers. It was a common practice at that time to allow workmen to use their free time for creating objects for special occasions as gifts to family and friends. Measures just over 7" tall by 4.25" wide at top.
