KRAFT, GOLDSCHMIDT & KRAFT 1861 Confederate Saber: Formed in 1861 in Columbia, South Carolina K,G & K Made Sabers for Rebel Cavalry and Staff From European Sword Blades. This Fine Example has a Straight Cuirassier Style Blade Etched with "CSA", Scrolls and Rebels. NCO or Trooper Style Cast Brass One Piece Grip, Guard and Hilt with "CSA"( Cast by Peter Kind , who operated a Brass Foundry in Columbia). Scabbard marked "Kraft, Goldschmidt & Kraft 1861" and "Columbia S.C. CSA" on Reverse of Drag. KG & K Swords were Well Respected, Considered Some of the Finest Produced in the Confederacy. Wade Hampton Carried Several and used one in his Sword Fight with Custer at Gettysburg. Rare and Unusual to Find a Period Confederate Sword in Today's Market. 30" Blade, Very Good Condition.
