Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, north coast, ca 1000 to 1300 CE. Textile "coca" bag of the type that was carried by laborers in the high Andes to help with fatigue and altitude sickness. Vertical tan and off-white stripes with attached red braided straps. Frame size 27-1/2"H, textile is 19" H as presented. Professionally framed and conserved.
