Wagon Tongue. Oil on Canvas. 24 x 30. Wagon Tongue. Mixed media on canvas. For book cover entitled Wagon Tongue for Bantam Books series entitled Tales of Texas by Elmer Kelton. Deel passed away in 2005 after 50 years of designing and painting over 250 book covers for leading Western authors including Louis L'amour, Gary McCarthy and J T Edison. He is most remembered for painting the 140 foot mural at the Gene Autry Museum in Los Angeles. He was long time friends with Gene Autry and had a reputation for Historical Accuracy and Artistic Talent.
