Description
A large 1930s Italian Lenci ceramic cockerel 'Gallo', by Sandro Vacchetti Modelled with head lower and to sinister, decorated with contrasting spots, inscribed beneath "Lenci MADE IN ITALY A", 11.25", (28.5cm) high, together with a Lenci black-glazed circular platter on three bun feet, marked beneath "Lenci MADE IN ITALY TORINO 2.37" with a star motif, 14.5", (37cm) diameter, (2). Provenance: By repute, imported by entrepreneur and inventor Harry Burrows of Manchester in the 1930s. Bequeathed to the mother of the current owner, and thence by descent. Condition
A few tiny flake chips to paintwork; one toe of cockerel is missing. Platter has a reattached rim chip. Field has general light surface scratches.
