GRANT ULYSSES S.: (1822-1885) American President 1869-77, previously Commanding General of the United States Army 1864-69. Under Grant the Union Army defeated the Confederate military in the American Civil War 1861-65. A.L.S., as President, two pages, 8vo, Washington D.C., 31st December 1873, to Mr, Boni, on the printed stationery of the Executive Mansion. Grant invites his correspondent and their wife to spend a week in January with him and his wife, remarking 'The Cabinet - with another senators & representatives to fill the table - will dine with us….and I want you with them. I shall also have Bout well & Judge Hoar'. In concluding Grant states that his family are all well and send their regards to his correspondent. Some extremely light, very minor age wear, VG. €1250-1500
