Description
PAUL I: (1754-1801) Emperor of Russia 1796-1801. The only son of Peter III and Catherine the Great. Assassinated. L.S., Pavel, in Cyrillic, two pages, folio, Saint Petersburg, 20th January 1800, to His Majesty the King of Naples, in Cyrillic. The manuscript letter proclaims 'We deign to recall Our Minister Plenipotentiary at the Court of Your Majesty who is the Actual Chamberlain at Our Court and Commander of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Count Mussin Pushkin Bryus' and continues 'We ask Your Majesty in a friendly manner to dismiss Our Minister Plenipotentiary with the same favour that Your Majesty has always honoured him with'. Countersigned at the foot by Nikolay Saltykov (1736-1816) Russian Field Marshal and Imperial Courtier. With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope wrapper bearing a large blind embossed paper seal to the verso. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG €1875-2500
