Table screens made of jade were particularly popular during the Qing Dynasty. They were usually of rectangular or round shape and often came in pairs. Their function was purely decorative and thus they were decorated with symbolic, auspicious motifs such as pine and crane, bat and deer, rising sun, etc. Small screens, such as the present piece, were valued as aesthetic objects for the scholar's desk.
Condition: The table screen is in very good condition with hardly any signs of wear. The diameter of the jade disc measures 13.2 cm, the height (with stand) is 22 cm.
