*Artist biography: Born in Griffin, Georgia in 1910, Julia Homer Wilson moved to Charleston with her mother in the 1940's. She attended the Corcoran School of Art in Washington and the Slade School of Art in London. She studied under Oscar Kokoschka and Robert Brachman. A transitionary figure between the two Renaissance periods, Wilson was active in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's. Color prints of her Charleston scenes were widely available during that period and were bought by both natives and tourists. She died in California on October 6, 2001.
