Title: Illustrations of the Bible
by: Westall and Martin
Publisher: Edward Churton
Printing Year: 1835, two volumes bound in one book

Condition/Details: Bound in period ¾ leather binding with gilt embossing and raised bands, this antique text is a scarce collection of engravings of Biblical scenes, with accompanying descriptions written by Hobart Caunter. The book is divided into two volumes, with volume two containing the balance of the Old Testament and all of the New Testament. There are three tables of illustrations, indicating 96 plates for the Old Testament and 48 for the New. All the New Testament plates are present (though arranged out of order, presumably a printer's error), plates 20 and 59 are lacking from the Old Testament. The volume shows some external age/wear and hinge repair, front board is secure, rear board is nearly detached, the text block is tight with bright pages, scattered foxing and library markings. The book measures approximately 5.5" x 8.75". Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $5.50
