Item Details

Description

A great gold presentation cane from daughters. The gold-filled handle is 2 1/2" high and 1 1/3" across the top that is initialed: "S.M." for the recipient. The sides are elaborately decorated in scrolls and floral motifs. In the smooth panels, the recipient's daughters are listed: "Mary, Amanda, Alice, Marcia". The shaft is ebony that ends with a 1" replaced brass ferrule. The overall length is 33 2/3" and the condition is very good. It is American, ca 1885, and it is a very fine example with an uncommon presentation modality. Estimate: $450-$650.
