Item Details
Description
A great illuminating gadget cane. The plain oak crook handle measures about 9 1/2" along the arc and is about 1" thick. There is a 1 1/4" silver metal collar on a thick, blackened hardwood shaft. Just below the collar there is a button that activates the battery-operated illuminator. The unusual ferrule is 2 3/4" long and gives access to the small light bulb and the batteries. It has 3 open windows and has the inventory/serial number "620" stamped into it. When activated, it allows the light to shine through illuminating the floor where one might step. It is in working order. (On page 151 of Dike's Cane Curiosa, a close example is shown in picture 13/23.) The overall length is 36" and the condition is very good. It is English, made in the 20th Century, and it is a fine example of the kind. Estimate: $1000-$1500.
