A very nice wood elephant cane. Made of one piece of dark-stained hardwood, it has a crook handle that measures about 8" along the arc and is 1 1/8" at its widest point. At the end of the crook, there is a 3" detailed elephant with amber glass eyes, bone tusks, and its curled trunk looped downward. The shaft is fashioned with thin incised lines for its entire length, and it finishes with a 1" aged, white metal and iron ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/4" and the condition is very good. It is perhaps American, ca 1885, and it is a very good example of the kind. Estimate: $600-$800.
