Description
A beautiful pale blue enamel cane with inset diamond. The cylindrical handle is 2 1/3" high and 1" wide at its top. It is removable from a threaded brass seat and it features pale blue enamel over an engine-turned guilloche base. Inlaid on the top is a small rose-cut diamond set in a tiny gold bezel. There are two 3/8" white and yellow gold bands that are decorated with rings of laurel leaves. The lower edge of the bottom band is stamped: "Brigg, 18CT.", for the famous London purveyor. The shaft is dark exotic wood finished in rings of faux snakewood and it ends with a 1" brass and iron ferrule. (A leather-covered storage box for the handle when not in use is included with this item. The box is signed "Shapiro & Co." for the noted seller of antique jewelry and objet d"art in London.) The overall length is 33 3/4" and the condition is excellent. It is English, ca 1910 and it is a lovely decorative example of the kind. Estimate: $1500-$2500.
