Item Details
Description
A very nice horn and shark-spine cane. The slightly curved "L" horn handle is 4 1/2" to the side and 7/8" at its thickest. It comes to a gentle point at the end. The shaft is shark-spine threaded over a thin metal rod and is highlighted with five thin horn separators just below the handle. The shaft tapers down to two more horn separators near the base, and a 2/3" horn ferrule that shows mild damage from early insect larvae activity. The overall length is 33 1/2" and the condition is very good with none of the mis-alignment sometimes seen on these pieces. It is probably American, ca 1890, and it is a great example from the Michael Roth Collection. Estimate: $500-$700.
