English School (early 19th Century) A group of four portrait minatures of the Friend family of Northampton, to include James Friend (1781-1819), Sarah Louise Friend, Emma Jane Friend and Capt. Thomas Friend, First Dragoon Guards, in uniform one of the female sitters signed 'TB' lower right; Capt. Friend signed 'CSH' in gold watercolour on ivory and vellum, oval gilt metal frames (4) 6.30cm (2in)

Capt. Thomas Friend - horizontal crack to glass, slight vertical warp to the support, possibly on vellum. James Friend - on vellum, old areas of retouching in the jacket, and a verical scuff to the paint surface in the background. Losses in frame, without glass. Girl in bead necklace - on ivory, minor abrasion to background to the left of sitter's head. Girl in blue sash - on ivory
