Description
A pair of Egyptian faience 'Sons of Horus' plaques, both of Imsety who protected the liver. The first is 3rd Intermediate, c. 1075 - 664 BC, nicely modeled with well-defined facial features and three yellow stripes contrasting nicely with the deep blue color of the rest of the plague. H: 3 3/8 in (8.5 cm). Intact with good color and light deposits. The second plaque is from the Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, and flat with the outline of the figure, one side preserving the imprint of the fabric the piece was modeled against. H: 3 3/8 in (8.5 cm). Repaired a mid-section, nice light blue-green color and light deposits. Both figures with a hole at the head and foot for attachment to the bandages of the mummy. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
