Description
A Roman brooch in the form of a bird and a Romano-Celtic bronze element. The first is a Roman bronze zoomorphic brooch, c. 2nd Century AD, the body in the form of a bird, the head in the form of a feline. L: 1 ½ in (3.8cm). Pin and coil intact, minor losses to catch. The second piece is a Romano-Celtic bronze element, c. 1st c. 1st - 3rd Century AD, the terminals in the form of bull’s heads, a tubular sheath at center for mounting. L: 2 ½ in (6.3 cm). Dark olive patina. Ex North Carolina private collection.
