Description
A nice Greek core glass amphoriskos, Eastern Mediterranean, c. 6th - 4th Century BC, of opaque dark blue glass with a horizontal band of yellow and pale-blue zigzag lines just below the shoulder, light blue threading above the foot and a yellow thread around the edge of the rim and the top of the knob base. H: 3 ¼ in (8.2 cm). Intact, surfaces with some weathering, strong color throughout. Cf. Yale 12-15 & von Saldern, Oppenlander no. 146 for parallels. Ex UK private collection formed in the 1970s. Gifted to the present UK owner in 2012.
