Item Details
Description
A matched set of six early nineteenth century Irish silver teaspoons, each stem in Fiddle pattern with crested terminal and with a long rat-tail to the reverse of each bowl. Five spoons hallmarked Dublin 1830, maker's mark 'IB', likely James Brady, also with impressed retailer's mark 'Neill' (James R Neill), the other spoon with partly distorted hallmarks. Weight 3.95 ozt (123 grams).
Condition
All the spoons are in fairly worn condition and all display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. All the crests are very rubbed with considerable loss of detail. Heavier wear around edges and loss of definition to the rat-tails. One of the bowls is badly damaged with dimples, bumps and dints to the metal. The other bowls have faired better but display heavier wear around the tips. Some rubbing and distortion to hallmarks.
