ALS A mounted 17 x 11cm letter, in French, written in pen on headed "182, Rue de l`Universite" paper by the French sculptor Auguste Rodin to fellow artist Alphonse Legros. Rodin hopes to meet with Legros in London and expresses the wish to go with him to "les Grands Musees". In excellent condition with faint folding and a touch of handling wear. Accompanied by a black and white head and shoulder photo of Rodin, mounted beside the letter. Framed and glazed. Overall size 32 x 45cm. The painter Alphonse Legros (1837-1911) first met Rodin while attending a drwing school in Paris. He settled down in London in 1863, where he was appointed teacher at the South Kensington School of Art.
