Description
Egypt, 18th to 25th Dynasty, Ca 1550 to 657 BCE. Very fine steatite scarab covered in green glaze. Typical beetle form protective amulet, base carved with image of Ptah holding a staff, 15mm long.
Provenance: Ex Philip Mitry collection. Mitry was a large antiquities dealer in Cairo in the 1940's and 50's , moving to Los Angeles in the mid 1950's with his massive collection.
