The vargueno late 18th / early 19th century and later, the rectangular molded top with projecting central section over the case of conforming outline, with a central hinged door applied with an architectural arrangement of columns, cornice, an arch and figures, opening to reveal ten small drawers, flanked on each side by eight further drawers, all with gilt-metal mounts and bordered by gilt metal-inlaid spirals, the side panels marquetry-inlaid, raised on bun feet, with key; the associated stand late 19th century, with turned legs joined by iron stretchers, the vargueno 26.75'' H x 45.5'' W x 15'' D; the stand 30.25'' H x 47.5'' W x 18'' D, est: $3000/4000

The vargueno and stand associated and of differing vintages, as stated. Each structurally sound. The vargueno: restored and reconstructed incorporating newer timber, including the top, the rear panels, and possibly additional parts. The mounts are later additions. Woodworm holes to older timber. General marks, nicks, scratches, shrinkage cracks and wear to timber and inlay. The stand: overall good condition.
