Description

Few self-respecting automotive connoisseurs could ever ignore that iconic 20th Century classic, the E type Jaguar. From its sensational launch with its 3.8 litre 6 cylinder 'XK' series engine in 1961 to its final expression as the 5.3 litre V12 engined Series III model fourteen years later, Coventry's finest was not only an aspirational supercar of its era, but also a generally attainable one- always offering would be owners tremendous value for money. The Series 3 was a much-revised model that was introduced in June 1971 and ran through until August 1973 for the Coupe and to June 1974 for the Roadster. It was introduced to showcase the new Jaguar 5.3-litre V12 engine and is easily identified by the wider track, wider wheels and tyres, slightly flared front and rear wheel arches, and large cross-slatted front grille. The distinctive rear badge proclaims it as an E-Type V12. As values of its rival's rocket out of reach, Britain's sexiest sports car looks better value than ever in V12 form.

Finished in Damson Red with contrasting tan leather interior this particular Jaguar V12 roadster was originally dispatched from Browns Lane to the sunshine state of California. We are informed by the vendor that this beautiful car drives without fault, the engine fires instantly and immediately settles to a silent hum, the 5.3 litre engine builds its enthusiasm stealthily via the auto box as it propels this car to a natural cruising speed reported to be in the region of 125mph. All electrics are reported to work perfectly and the steering and suspension are both tight and firm, all fluid levels are clean and fresh, the wire wheels are reported to be in excellent condition and are shod with excellent tyres all round.

Experts agree on how to identify a good E-type: 'Panel fit, panel gaps, the line of the body is absolutely key, this car has all these attributes. The red paintwork isn't perfect but is nicely aged with nicks and blemishes here and there; the paint shine is impressive though. Better still all bright work, chrome bumpers, grill, headlamps are reported to be very well preserved.
