Pre-columbian Maya Blackware Incised Diety Vessel from Guatemala, ca. 500-800 A.D. A particularly tall Maya cylinder cup standing with a flaring design and overall with a stone polished smooth surface rendering a grayish and black coloration. The rim is a carved band of glyphs with two panels of a chief's head and two panels of a vulture like avian. On the lower body are two large carved panels of a stylized zoomorph deity. Carved panels retain original reddish pigment and it is covered with ancient dendritic growths and mineral encrustation.
