American Militia Infantry Cap Plate, ca 1825 [Campbell & Howell, Fig. 122]; shield device with spread-winged eagle atop a U.S. shield with crossed flags and arms, 15 star inner surround and laurel wreath outer struck in tinned sheet iron, reverse has plume holder and two period replaced wire fasteners; 6.25" high x 5" wide.
