South Carolina Dragoon Cap Plate, ca.1835-50 [Campbell & Howell, figure 138]; rare and distinctive stamped sheet silver on copper, in crescent or gorget shape; found on jockey-style dragoon helmets, also worn by infantry; reverse has three period replaced copper wire fasteners; 4.5" wide x 4.4" high.
