Sixth Plate Ambrotype of Double Armed Badger, a fine portrait of an unknown Wisconsin private wearing the distinctive five button sack coat with standing collar edged in light blue issued by the state to the 9th-16th infantry regiments during the fall of 1861. Note the blue cloth epaulettes matching the uniform color, the outside slash pockets and unusually long skirt associated with the sack coat that was proprietary to the Badger State. The private is fully equipped with US regulation plates, wide leather, and carries a Liege made copy of the French M1853 musket in .71 caliber purchased by US agents in the many thousands. A sure sign of early war photography is the small caliber revolver tucked into the belt.
