Edinburgh.- Diploma awarded to James Alexander, qualified to practise medicine following examinations in anatomy, surgery and pharmacy, D. signed by the 12 examiners, engraved document on vellum, with manuscript insertions, College's red wax seal in tin skippet, folds, slightly browned, preserved in the original tin box, 230 x 330mm., Edinburgh, 5th March 1815. Examiners include: James Abercrombie ( Scottish physician, 1780-1844), James Bryce ( pioneer of inoculation, 1766-1826), and George Kellie ( joint originator of the Monroe-Kellie doctrine, 1758-1829).
