first edition, [?one of 100 copies], half-title, title printed in red & black, a little light spotting to title and some other ff., unopened, overall internally very good, disbound probably from the original glued wrappers with later ms. title to uppermost blank page, [Yorke 31], small 4to, Paris , 1910. The scarce and savage attack by Crowley on Christ & Christianity, a work so inflammatory in its anti-Christian sentiment and open discussion of sodomy (given its own section in the Preface and present in this copy in its entirety) that the publishers prudently state on the title-page 'Privately printed for circulation in free countries. Copies must not be imported into England or America.' The rarity of the book, especially in unmutilated form, however has led many to assume that it did indeed suffer a customs seizure and was largely destroyed. Auction records can find no copy being sold since an inscribed copy in 1971. The Warburg Institute holds two copies, one they date at 1909, both from the Yorke collection. COPAC records two copies in the UK, one at the British Library and one at the University of London.
