The present oil painting by Franz Kienmayer (1886-1963) particularly stands out with the intense blue of the dress worn by the elegant young lady. Her earrings and shoes perfectly suit the long and tight dress. Her hairstyle is waved in the fashionable style of the 1930s. The narrow left arm of the brunette beauty is adorned with a golden watch and a decorative ring on the hand. Cross-legged, she sits elegantly on her draped fur whose soft forms are repeated in the silvery curtain in the background. Particularly striking is the face of the sitter, which is enhanced with a fascinating vividness through the rosy flesh tones, the gentle smile with the indicated dimples and the expressive blue eyes.
The painting is dated and signed lower right, ‘1933 /Fr. Kienmayer’ and mounted in a gilt wooden frame. It is in good condition, showing small retouched areas in the left area and tiny color losses. The upper right part of the painting shows a retouched point (there is a patch on the reverse at this point). Inspection under UV light reveals further touch-ups in the upper part of the painting.
The frame shows minor wear. The overall dimensions, including the frame, are 145 x 135 cm. The stretcher measures 130 x 120 cm.
