The painting presented here by Walter Ernst Zeising, executed in oil on canvas, was created in 1912. Shown is an idyllic summer garden with adjoining woodland and homestead in the background. A young woman is walking along the meadow passing the shadow throwing pine trees.



The painting is signed and dated lower left ‘W. Zeising, 12’ and verso inscribed. It is in good condition with slight age-related signs of wear. The image size is 60 x 73 cm.



Walter Ernst Zeising (1876-1933)

Walter Ernst Zeising was born in Leipzig in 1876. He received his first education in graphics from his father Franz Emil Zeising. Subsequently, he attended the School of Applied Arts in Leipzig, followed by studies at the Munich Academy as well as the Dresden Academy under Carl Bantzer and Gotthard Kuehl. A scholarship took him to France, where he spent some years in Paris and Brittany. Back in Dresden since 1910, he used to work as an illustrator. (cru)
