Offered here is an acrylic work by painter Hans Böttcher. The painting shows an abstract, two-dimensional composition in bright colors and slightly impasto paint application. Colors and shapes are the subject of the image which illustrate Böttcher’s very own style.
The painting is monogrammed and dated lower left ‘H.B. 69’. It is in good condition with tiny spots of color flaking in the top left and center right. Stretcher size: 50 x 60 cm. Dimensions framed: 61 x 71 cm. The frame with slight traces of use.
Hans Böttcher (1897-1986)
Hans Böttcher was born in Berlin in 1897. He taught himself as a painter and was traveling through France and Brazil, after that he worked as a freelance artist in Berlin. His early works were stylistically committed to the late Expressionism. During the war Böttcher was forbidden to paint, many of his works were destroyed. After 1945, his style developed further and further towards abstraction, influenced by the Art Informel. In addition, he worked with the ‘Berliner Kulturkollektiv’, in which Max Pechstein and Otto Mueller also participated. (cru)
