Typical abstract geometrical relief work by Spanish artist Francisco Farreras; works of this kind fetch up to €12,000 at international auctions

Since 1988, the Spanish painter Francisco Farreras devote himself exclusively to the medium of wooden reliefs, created from old wood, scrap and waste. In 2004 he began a series of experimental works with almost flat surfaces, as it is presented in our work which is entitled ‘725A’.



The wooden relief is mounted on a wooden base and is overall in good original condition. The work is verso signed, dated and inscribed ‘F. Farreras. 2006 Enero. 725A.’ The relief measures 77 x 65 cm, the total dimensions are 80 x 60 cm.



Francisco Farreras Ricart (born 1927)

Francisco Farreras Ricart was born in Barcelona in 1927. He began his artistic career under the guidance of the painter Antonio Cano Gómez de Murcia and Mariano de Cossio at the School of Arts and Crafts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He studied art at the School of San Fernando in Madrid, followed by numerous exhibitions, including at the Venice Biennale in 1958 and 1960, as well as the MoMA, New York and the Tate Gallery in London.
