This is aquatint in colors by the American artist Eric Fischl, one of the most important representatives of American Realism. The work dates to the year 1989 and it consists of two aquatint etchings, which are printed together on one large sheet. From a neon-yellow background on the left side, a man with a ball steps forth and in the background is a bathing ring. The print on the right side shows a female nude, standing. The bright, neon-yellow background becomes darker on the right side, over purple shades to a deep black. The etching was printed in a limited edition of 100 copies at Parasol Press, New York and is part of the series ‘Four Aquatints’ in which the artist shows different scenes at the beach.

The work is signed, dated and numbered lower left in pencil ‘Eric Fischl 89 55/100’. The sheet is mounted on the upper edge on cardboard and framed. Frame and work are in very good condition with hardly any traces. There are two adhesive stripes on the reverse. The sheet has got very slight, unremarkable handling creases and the margin shows some little foxing. The plate of the left print is 79 x 52 cm in size and the left is 83.7 x 53 cm. The sheet is 83.8 x 103.5 cm in size and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 92.5 x 139.8 cm.
