Description
DESCRIPTION: This is a hand hewn cherry wood trencher bowl from New England circa 1820s. The wood gain is exceptional as can be seen on the outside of the cherry trencher (see photos). The trencher bowl is hand hewn from one solid piece of cherry wood and has extended handles for ease of use. The inside of the early trencher shows food chopping scars, as it was the early work horse of the home. The bottom of the cherry trencher has a flat surface for resting. MEASUREMENTS: 22 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 5 inches high.
Condition
Slight hairline drying crack on the bottom as shown in the photos which does not effect its character or strength. The trencher has an age appropriate patina.
