1821 NEW YORK MANUMISSION CERTIFICATE: From the original 2000 Early American History Auctions catalog: "June 11th, 1821, Manumission (or the freeing of a slave) was documented by presenting a certificate, such as this, and recording it in a official records. In this instance, the slave freed was a female negro named Maria, the property of Stephen Parkinson, who (according to the document) was under the age of 45 and abel to provide for herself. Signed by both Stephen Allen, the Mayor of New York and Richard Riker, this document was also "Recorded in the Office of the Register in and for the City and County of New York in Lib 2 of the Manumission of Blacks..."". 10" x 7 3/4".
