Description

FREE-BLOWN AND PRESSED WHALE OIL STAND LAMP, opaque white, globular font raised on a small-size Lion Head and Basket of Flowers base, flat underneath, double-ring wafer construction. Original pewter collar and double-tube whale oil burner. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co., New England Glass Co., and probably others. Circa 1830-1850. 7 1/4" H to top of collar, 3 1/8" SQ base.

Provenance: Collection of Suzanne Richie, Woodstock, NY.

Condition

Average condition with the usual losses to base corners, collar slightly askew and a tiny hole is visible in font flange, normal annealing lines to base, burner frozen in place.
