Attributed to Henry Nelson O'Neil (English,1817-1880). Oil on canvas, housed in a gilt frame. An oval portrait in profile of a young girl with blonde hair. Titled on attached plaque; 12.75 x 10.75 in. (sight).
O'Neil was a member of "The Clique," a group of artists who met regularly in the 1840s to evaluate each other's works. He was an outspoken critic of another group of artist's, the Pre-Raphaelites, not only criticizing them in writing, but also painting satires of their works.
