Portrait of a Young Lady
American, 19th century. Oil on canvas, housed in a gilt frame. A half-length portrait of a seated young lady wearing a black dress with a lace collar, with a bracelet on her left wrist. Unsigned; 29.5 x 24.5 in. (sight).
The subject is purported to be a family member of David Rittenhouse (American, 1732-1796) and is accompanied by a letter from one of his heirs. Rittenhouse was the treasurer of Pennsylvania before becoming the first Director of the United States Mint.

Condition
Some light craquelure and a couple of tiny spots of paint loss. A couple of patches to verso. Some light wear to frame.
