Three-Drawer Blanket Chest, Probably Pennsylvania 

American (probably Pennsylvania), late 18th century. A pine and poplar blanket chest of dovetailed construction, having a molded lid and base with three drawers, the side panels fitted with iron handles and the lower front corners of the case having carved details, the interior with a covered till and retaining its key for the working lock mechanism, all resting on bracket feet and decorated in original blue paint with red accents, stenciled ML / FR / 1786 on the front; ht. 28.75, wd. 50, dp. 23.25 in.

Some paint loss scattered throughout. Lid with age split and small separation to molding. Lower left drawer with break to brass escutcheon and missing interior lock mechanism. Lower left and right drawers with small losses near corners.
