Complete sheet of 40 playing cards by E. Pignalosa, Italy. Uncut sheet of Italian playing cards by Edoardo Pignalosa, Naples. Deck consists of 40 cards in suits of coins, cups, swords and (wooden) clubs. Excellent overall condition.
Sheet measures 15 1/2 x 20 1/2 inches. This deck has 10 cards, numbered 2 through 7, plus a Jack, Knight, King and Ace of each suit. The back of each card consists of an ornate design with two human faces. The sheet of cards, although designed in an older style, was actually printed in and dated - on the reverse - 1947. Edoardo Pignalosa was in business in the 1930's and was still operating as late as 1959. This particular sheet is in very good condition, with some trivial age toning on one edge. A beautiful and colorful sheet which can be framed for display.
