24 in. Royal Vienna Painted Charger. The large charger has a teal blue border which is decorated with gilt and enamel figural dolphins and swirling filigree. The inset center has a rectangular panel which is hand painted, titled “The Wave & The Rock”, the nude female stands on a rock formation in the ocean with waves crashing in, the nude male figure braces himself between the water and the rocks as he presents a shell to the woman; on either side of this scene are gilt highlights with enamel coral, foliage, fish and crustaceans. The plate is in excellent condition with no breaks, repairs, chips, scratches or inpainting. In an original wood & gesso round frame measuring 34 in. dia. The frame has losses to the gesso and has been repainted. The charger is signed on the reverse with blue beehive mark and title “The Wave & The Rock”.
