Utagawa Kunisada (Utagawa Toyokuni III), (Japanese, 1786-1865), ukiyo-e figural woodblock print, with Toshidama cartouche--likely with signature. Figural woodblock print depicting a figure with two samurai swords under cherry blossoms and with back to paneled screen door. Figure appears to have just split a thick wooden plank. Framed 22.5" x 16.75". Sight size 14.25" x 9.5".

Condition
Toning to sheet. Woodblock connected to mat with scotch tape in edges. Handling creases and wear throughout. Long horizontal crease running across sheet underneath eyes of figure. Losses to top left corner with rip. Loss to paper by red sash and left forearm. Woodblock may have been possibly cut down.
