Description
A nice Mayan polychrome bowl, c. AD 400 - 600, from the lowlands of Guatemala. This intact vessel depicts a pair of priests separated by stylized glyphs on its outside. The inside is decorated with a wide red band around the inside rim, below which is a narrow band, then glyphs all around a central ring with color inside. Dia: 7 5/8 in (19cm). An attractive example with some surface weathering. Ex Joel Malter collection; Ex Venerable West S.F. Valley Collection.
