A panel of brocaded satin, Chinese, 18th century. formed from two joined loom widths, the shot green-blue ground woven with peonies within a foliate trellis in pink silk with metal strip to the centres, mounted onto padded cotton lining, 281 by 77cm
Condition
good condition, silk has evenly faded overall. Upper edge approx. 40cm deep and far left edge and hem approx. 2-3cm wide the colours are darker, richer. Each peony is approx. 11cm diam. One panel is good condition, other half the joined panel has a yellow L shaped bleach mark approx. 60cm down and the full width across. Cotton lining with padded inter layer - soiled and a few brown stains
