Edwardian Silverplate Mirrored Plateau, first quarter 20th century, by T. Griffiths & Co., Birmingham, of circular form, the tall waisted frame decorated with applied floral banding, with beaded rim and raised on four rococo feet, fitted with a conforming mirrored plate, h. 7", dia. 21".

Overall Condition: Good. Scattered scuffs and scrapes consistent with age. Moderate loss to the silver with the dark base metal exposed, particularly at the high relief of the floral banding, and with four patches on the side, the largest 3-1/4" x 1". Shrinkage crack to the wood under base, 8" long, but structurally sound. Surface scratches to the mirrored plate, with a shallow 1/2" diameter chip at the edge, and two other tiny 1/16" pips (one at the edge, the other off of center). Marked on the underside with a cast and applied brass plaque: "T. Griffiths & Co. / 17 & 18 Dale End / Birmingham / Manufacturers of / Shop and Restaurant Fittings / of Every Description."
