Impressive Pair of Paris Porcelain Hand-Painted Neoclassical Krater Urns, first quarter 19th century, set with winged putti head handles and decorated with delicately rendered swags of polychrome flowers under tooled gilt lyres with crossed palmettes, h. 14", dia. 9-1/2".
Condition
Reserves of both with decoration intact overall. Rim bands and larger gilt areas exhibit typical rubbing consistent with age. ONE EXAMPLE: Both winged putti restored from the waist up with touch-ups to the gilt high points below. An old vertical hairline extends 1-3/4" midway down one reserve to the gilt line. Old filler visible where the bowl joins the knop with four adjacent small flake chips. OTHER EXAMPLE: One putto restored from the waist up. Scattered nicks and tiny flake chips where the bowl joins the knop. Bolts of both plastered over inside and out.
