Description
In Eastern Tennessee in the 19th Century, all families had a butcher and smoke shed where pigs and beef were processed for the kitchen. This slab has had lots of butcher cuts with evidence on the top surface. 4 tree branches form the legs, 2 of which are loose and easily reattached. This slab is now made into a coffee table. The dimensions of the slab itself are 25" wide on one end, 15" on the other end, 3 1/2" thick, 19" tall and 70" long. The slab is crazed, cut, chipped, cracked, all from 175+ years of use. It likely originated in Sevier County, Tennessee and is an unusual primitive modified for use in today's houses.
