This lot comprises eleven bottles of 1990 vintage Château Chasse-Spleen from the Moulis appellation in Bordeaux.

1990 was a great year for Bordeaux wine. The warm and sunny weather was rarely interrupted and resulted in fantastic wines.

The 1990 vintage Château Chasse-Spleen was rated 88 points by Robert Parker in 1993. James Suckling rated the wine 90 points for Wine Spectator in 2000. René Gabriel last rated the wine 17 out of 20 points in 2010.

The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition.

Château Chasse-Spleen

Château Chasse-Spleen, along with Château Poujeaux, is among the most beloved wine estates in the appellation of Moulis in Bordeaux. The wine estate was mentioned by the poets Lord Byron, who according to lore was responsible for the name of the estate, and Charles Baudelaire, and vines were grown on its soil from as early as the 16th century. Today the wine estate is run by Claire Villares and counselled by Jacques Boissenot, who performs the same task for four of the five Premier Crus, as well as for a number of other well-known wine estates in Bordeaux

The vineyard area of Château Chasse-Spleen spans 80 hectares, planted with 73 % Caberet Sauvignon 20 % Merlot, and 7 % Petit Verdot. The wine matures in oak barriques, 40 % of which are replaced anually, over a period of 15 to 18 months. On average, the wine estate produces 28.000 cases per year.
